Grooming the Standard Schnauzer

If you choose to clipper your dog please follow this advice:

Shaving the double coated dog

The SSCA Grooming Guides states:

" A freshly clipped coat, to look neat, is shorter than a good length of stripped show coat because a longer blade (no 5 or &) leaves most coats looking like a pack of giants moths ate their way though it."

The 81/2 or 10 is recommended for the jacket.

"Clip wight he grain of the hair.  It helps prevent skin irritation ("clipper burn") Don't try to do the whole length of the dog in one stroke:  Take short overlapping strokes, to make a smooth final product. "
